Welcome to the 2023 - 2024 School Year

Welcome back to another school year! This year I will be teaching 5th grade everything except math and 4th grade their ELA class! I am excited for what our year holds! Welcome back and enjoy learning! 
 
We will be using Google Classroom this year. There will be more information to come about this. This will be one way to share information, assignments, and to communicate. On this webpage, you will find pictures and other information as well about what we are learning or have completed in class. 
 

The topics for this year include:

Social Studies 5th Grade:

ELA 5th Grade:
We will be using the Wit and Wisdom program this year and the topics include:

ELA 4th grade: 
We will be using the Wit and Wisdom program this year and the topics include:
  • A Great Heart
  • Extreme Settings
  • Making Myths

Upcoming Dates

Thursday will be Hat Day - pay a $1 and wear a hat - all money raised will go towards our Relay for Life team (American Cancer Society).   
Lunch on Thursday will be spaghetti and meat sauce instead of baked beans and hot dogs.
 
SOCKTOBER - don't forget donations of socks all this month!!  
 
CUSTODIAN APPRECIATION DAY is Thursday!!
 
Go Bears! - On Thursday, soccer is at Peninsula and the XC team is in Blue Hill.
 
Friday - NO SCHOOL for students - Our teachers will be having a professional development day!
 
Monday - NO SCHOOL for all - Indigenous Peoples Day

Socktober

We will participate in Socktober again this year. Our goal is to collect enough for every child to pick a new pair of socks if they wish to and the remainder of hte donations will go to the Emmaus Homeless Shelter and The Community Closet. 
 
Class Competitions:

Week of 10/11 Men and Women Socks 
Week of 10/18 Craziest Socks 
Week of 10/25 Holidays (all) Socks for all ages 
 
Winning class each week gets bragging rights and a surprise. Winning class for the whole month gets first pick of a brand new pair of socks and treat 

Mask Starting Friday

Last night, the school board voted to begin wearing mask in school starting this Friday. You will not need to wear the mask at Recess or PE and we take mask breaks during the day but please make sure you have one that you want to wear all day long.

Book Fair will be the week of October 4th
 
Picture day will be October 5 and more information will come home with students soon

We will have our first Spirit Day on September 24, 2021 and the theme is sparkles, glittery clothing, flip sequins, be creative!
