Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart
Students in grades 2-8 will be participating in the American Heart Association’s (A.H.A) Jumprope and Hoops for Heart event during their regular P.E. class time the week before Feb. break. Grades 4-8 will participate in Hoops for Heart on on Tuesday Feb. 10 with Mrs. Haslam. Grades 2 and 3 will participate in Jumprope for Heart with Mr. Tibbetts on Wednesday Feb. 11. Although this is meant to be a fundraiser for the A.M.A., students are not required to raise money, but will be doing the activities during P.E. class regardless. The funding is used for the prevention, education, and treatment of cardiovascular disease and stroke, which are the #1 and #4 killers in America. Last year our school raised $803.00. Our goal this year is $850 (approximately $12/student). Mrs. Haslam and Mr. Tibbetts have handed out collection envelopes with permission slips attached. Online fundraising instructions and additional information about this national event can be found by visiting www.heart.org/hoops. Back by popular demand are the fabulous wacky A.H.A. ducks! Students receive an instant duck with lanyard prize with their first $5 or online donation (see envelope for the coupon to tear off and send to school with your child to receive this duck). Permission slips should be turned in before the event date and all collection envelopes with contributions are to be returned to Mrs. Haslam or Mr. Tibbetts by Feb. 11.
