Veterans’ Day Poem

A hero stands up for the things he loves.
Her nation; His freedom; Her rights; His culture; Our very way of life.
They stand against evil, hatred, and tyranny.
They fight for those who cannot fight for themselves.
Like a candle that never extinguishes, their courage always burns bright.
Guiding our nation away from peril, as they run towards it in our stead.
Like an eagle soaring high, they scan the horizon.
Watching far and wide, coast to coast.
The debt we owe them can never be repaid.
The cost of our freedom is far too great.
We can offer only humble thanks and eternal gratitude.
We honor these heroes, our veterans, today, tomorrow, and forever.
