Shellfish Project

RSU 24 Middle Level students from all four schools have been identified as Student Ambassadors for an ongoing Shellfish Investigation project in conjunction with the SMHS Pathways Students, the Schoodic Institute, local Shellfish Committees, and the Department of Marine Resources. On October 3, middle-level Student Ambassadors along with SMHS Pathways mentors collected data about how many green crabs were present in specific plots on a mud flat in Corea, Maine. The real-word research will be analyzed and used by the Schoodic Institute, the DMR, and the Shellfish Committees to inform important decisions about clam seeding and other actions. Project-based learning at it's finest!!
